Purpose, Method, Dose Log
Vitamin K2
Cancer Treatment:
1994 Dec Novel role of vitamin K2: a potent inducer of differentiation of various human myeloid leukemia cell lines.
1997 Jun Vitamin K2 and its derivatives induce apoptosis in leukemia cells and enhance the effect of all-trans retinoic acid.
1999 Sep Vitamin K2 induces apoptosis of a novel cell line established from a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome in blastic transformation.
2001 Jul Apoptosis/differentiation-inducing effects of vitamin K2 on HL-60 cells: dichotomous nature of vitamin K2 in leukemia cells.
2002 Aug Combination of 22-oxa-1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3), a vitamin D(3) derivative, with vitamin K(2) (VK2) synergistically enhances cell differentiation but suppresses VK2-inducing apoptosis in HL-60 cells.
2005 Oct Combined treatment of leukemia cells with vitamin K2 and 1alpha,25-dihydroxy vitamin D3 enhances monocytic differentiation along with becoming resistant to apoptosis by induction of cytoplasmic p21CIP1.
2006 Feb Vitamin K2-induced antitumor effects via cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis in gastric cancer cell lines.
2006 May The mechanisms of vitamin K2-induced apoptosis of myeloma cells.
2008 Jun Identification of metabolites with anticancer properties by computational metabolomics
2008 Sep Vitamin K2 induces autophagy and apoptosis simultaneously in leukemia cells.

Lung Cancer:
2003 Sep Apoptosis induction of vitamin K2 in lung carcinoma cell lines: the possibility of vitamin K2 therapy for lung cancer.
2005 Jan Combination of vitamin K2 plus imatinib mesylate enhances induction of apoptosis in small cell lung cancer cell lines.

Pancreatic/Ovarian Cancer:
2003 Jan Vitamin K(2) selectively induced apoptosis in ovarian TYK-nu and pancreatic MIA PaCa-2 cells out of eight solid tumor cell lines through a mechanism different from geranylgeraniol.
2008 Vitamin K in vascular health - more than just a role in coagulation

Interesting Questions: Most infants get a Vitamin K shot. Now studies show infants who get Vitamin K shots are more likely to develop leukemia later
#1 Is the risk of leukemia worth getting the shot?
#2 Why do infant Vit K shots inrease risk? Are they Vit K1? Does that temporarily inhibit absorption of Vit K2?
#3 Since Vit K2 is produced by intestinal flora - would probiotics actually be a great guard against leukemia?
#4 What if you had some kind of deficient ability to absort Vit K2 through the intestines - would that make you chronically succeptible to leukemia relapse?

Standard Supply (to match dose regimen): AZ
Mixed supply: NSP
